It is middle of the night, he/ she told you that he/ she is going to bed, but instead he went out with friends: I would ask why my partner didnt tell me the truth. Whichever the answer, I will get angry to have found it out myself that he was lieing.
Your partner told you that he/ she is going out with a friend that you know, but you saw him/ her in the mall with his ex- boyfriend/ girlfriend: If I know the ex, I would go up and say hi. If I don't, I will go up and ask why I am not aware of this and why my partner had to lie to me.
